OM4Youth
Yoga & Expressive Arts Programs for Youth
Om4Youth is a Canadian not-profit organization dedicated to offering at-risk, marginalized and street-involved youth an opportunity to find HOPE, EMPOWERMENT and SUCCESS to create better life choices and life long wellness for themselves.
Om4Youth was founded in 2006 and incorporated in 2008 by Wendy Webster, a Child and Youth Counsellor and Hatha yoga teacher. For over 20 years Wendy has worked with at-risk children and youth in social service and community agencies throughout Ontario and Alberta. Sharing yoga with youth helps them:
- get in touch with themselves and learn to trust their instincts
- acknowledge and nuture their special gifts and strengths
- open up to change, ask questions and find their own answers
- it provides them with an opportunity for success
- know that the quiet, still place is there for them, through the changes, challenges and confusion of growing up

Research Projects
Om4Youth is very pleased to be in partnership with two not for profit Youth agencies, BOOST in Toronto and Youth Services Bureau in Ottawa in conjunction with University of Ottawa and OPRIG. These two research projects we are participating in are the first of their kind in Canada. The research will be looking at the efficacy of yoga, mindfulness, expressive arts and the benefits for at risk youth. In particular we will be conducting research with two groups of youth, one group that is involved in the youth sex trade and the other group of young women that are survivors of sexual abuse. We hope to have the findings published by the end of 2013.
